Jesse S. Mitchell
If there was a moment, a moment
If there was,
A moment, if there was a moment.
A moment, then I lived it, if there was a
Moment.
A wind, if there was wind, if there was a wind
Firm or thin, blending in with the air,
If I were there, a wind, if there was a wind
Anywhere near, then I felt it.
A felt it, if there was a
Wind.
A sound, a sound, if there was a sound,
Looming booming, big, vaguely profound,
If there was a sound, rattling rustling, saber-glint, steppe-yellow sun
A sound, if there was a sound, frayed-undone,
I heard it, if there was a
Sound.
If there was
A
(note: this poem perhaps works best if you are familiar with Warren Casser, the main character of the novel I am currently writing.)
